There are no huts, no signal, and no one around: you go with a tent, food for five days, and mountain experience, and you register your route beforehand with Carabineros (Chile’s national police) in Puerto Williams, checking in again when you return. Five mountain passes (the highest, Paso Virginia, at 850 meters), peat bogs, lakes, and the Beagle Channel below. The best season runs from December to February, although cold, wind, and snow can show up in any month: check conditions before you go.
If you want the view without the commitment, you can hike up Cerro Bandera, which is the first stage and takes half a day.
